Excellence in Ag Sciences Day
May 30
$25Contamination of domestic wells from agrichemicals, natural contaminants, and pathogens is a significant concern to rural residents and regulatory agencies. Groundwater is the primary source of drinking water for most rural residents and farmstead residents. Nearly all of Nebraska’s rural population depends on roughly 30,000 domestic wells for drinking water. Most states, including Nebraska, do not have a comprehensive list of private wells, and few wells are regularly tested. The occurrence of agrichemicals, geogenic contaminants, and pathogens in domestic wells often goes undetected resulting in a health risk for a significant segment of the rural population.
Attend Excellence in Ag Sciences Day to receive information, lessons, & resources to equip both teachers and students to help address these challenges.
The Annual Excellence in Ag Sciences Day will be held May 30, 2024 at Raising NE in Grand Island. Register by May 20, 2024 at https://go.unl.edu/agscienceday. Please send $25 check payable to UNL to NE Extension – Fillmore Co., 1340 G St., Geneva, NE 68361 which covers the meal and supplies.
