Introductory Woodworking Workshop

June 10 - June 12

Over a 3 day period, participants will gain experience in “basic fine woodworking” by participating in classwork and lab instruction covering safe machinery operation, project planning and design, construction, and finishing. Upon completion, participants will have an entire semester worth of curriculum to teach basic woodworking, as well as the skills and content to develop advanced coursework in their home program.

Topics will include, lumber basics (terminology and content), construction based math, lumber calculation and ordering, project planning (industry terminology and content), machine tool safety (technique and exams), machine operation and general maintenance, project construction with varied techniques, and fine wood finishing skills. In addition, participants will construct the same project the course was developed around to take home as an example in their classrooms.
